FAST FACTS

- Was considered America’s Sports Car
Overview
1968 was called the year of the Corvette, but not only because it was GM’s first major re-styling of America’s only true sports car since the 1963 Sting Ray. 1968 was a pop-culture phenomenon, from Hey Jude to Sitting on the Dock of the Bay, to The Planet of the Apes. And at the center of it all was the newly redesigned Corvette. This powerful driving machine offered 435 horsepower with a 427 cubic engine, along with a marketing theme that was sure to get your imagination revved up as much as the car itself: 10 Seconds to Lift Off. Now you can experience that Corvette summer of ‘68 as you sit behind the steering wheel with 435 ponies waiting for your own lift off.
